Upon arrival in Cape Town, experience the ease of a seamless transfer to Elgin, where a warm welcome awaits.
This tranquil retreat sets the stage for an unforgettable gravel adventure. Take some time to relax and settle into the serene surroundings, anticipating the thrills that await the next morning.
The afternoon and evening plans are yours to decide at leisure. Indulge in a delightful dinner (for your own account) at your hotel, or simply immerse yourself in the tranquil ambience of the surrounds, as you prepare for your upcoming gravel journey. Get ready for a cycling adventure that promises to be as invigorating as the natural beauty that surrounds Elgin.
Day 1 – Elgin to Hermanus
Embark on an epic gravel journey from Elgin to Hermanus, covering around 60 kilometres on a mix of gravel and tar roads. Traverse diverse terrains, from wooded trails to open vistas, as you pedal towards your destination.
Along the way, enjoy the natural beauty of the Elgin Valley and its crisp mountain air. Reward yourself with tastings at Charles Fox Wine Estate and Iona Wines, experiencing the unique coastal flavours.
For lunch, take a break at La Vierge (for your own account), soaking in the coastal ambiance. Afterward, settle into your accommodation in Hermanus for a well-deserved rest. In the evening, explore Hermanus and enjoy dinner at a venue of your choice (for your own account), with options ranging from fresh seafood to local specialities.
Day 2 – Hermanus to Elim
Gear up for the second leg of your gravel adventure, as you ride from Hermanus to the historic town of Elim. Today’s journey promises a picturesque gravel challenge of approximately 70 kilometres on a mix of tar and gravel roads, with stunning views accompanying your every pedal.
En-route, stop for a coffee and croissant in Stanford to fuel the legs for the onward journey.
Continue your trail to the renowned Black Oystercatcher Wines, where you’ll enjoy a culinary feast for lunch (for your own account), perfectly paired with their exceptional wines.
After a day of undulating riding and indulging in the best of local wines, check into your accommodation in Elim for a well-deserved rest. As the sun sets, venture out for dinner at a venue of your choice (for your own account), immersing yourself in the charm of Elim.
Day 3 – Elim to Greyton
On the final leg of your gravel adventure, ride from Elim to Greyton, covering about 85 kilometres on a mix of tar and gravel roads with an elevation gain of around 500 meters. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you pedal through scenic routes, culminating your cycling journey.
Take a coffee break in Napier before heading to Greyton, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local eatery (for your own account). Afterward, settle into a comfortable guest house, marking the end of your cycling adventure. The evening is yours to explore Greyton and have dinner at a venue of your choice (for your own account).
The next morning, after breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Cape Town, concluding your gravel expedition with wonderful memories of scenic trails and exquisite tastings.
