Itinerary
Arrival into Cape Town
Welcome to Cape Town, home to iconic landmarks like Table Mountain and Robben Island. Your 12-day Cross Cape cycling adventure begins here. Your accommodation will be arranged for a comfortable stay.
Upon arrival, settle in and prepare your bikes for the journey. Use this time for any last-minute adjustments and take some leisure time to explore the city’s attractions or relax in its vibrant atmosphere.
In the evening, experience a culinary adventure at GOLD Restaurant, featuring a 14-dish taste-safari paired with traditional Mali puppets and entertainment. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Africa, setting the tone for your unforgettable cycling journey through the Western Cape.
Day 1 – Cape Peninsula
On Day 1, start your adventure along the Cape Peninsula’s stunning coastline, passing through Seapoint, Clifton, and Camps Bay. Cycle up Chapman’s Peak Drive for breathtaking views, then descend through Noordhoek, Kommetjie, and Scarborough. Enjoy lunch with a view before reaching the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Explore its diverse flora and fauna before cycling to Simon’s Town to see African penguins at Boulders Beach. Wind down at your accommodation with an evening at leisure.
Day 2 – Kirstenbosch / Table Mountain
On Day 2, take a break from cycling to explore Cape Town’s natural wonders at your own pace. Visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to marvel at diverse indigenous flora. Alternatively, ascend Table Mountain via cable car for panoramic views of the city and coastline. Day 3 – Overberg
Prepare for an exhilarating road cycling journey along the iconic coastal Clarence Drive towards Hermanus. Pedal through up to 60km of breathtaking landscapes, where ocean meets rugged cliffs, promising awe-inspiring views. Following your ride, enjoy a well-deserved lunch in Hermanus, soaking in the seaside ambiance. The rest of the day is yours to explore local attractions, relax seaside, or unwind in this picturesque destination.
Day 4 – Botrivier
On Day 4, you’ll transition from Hermanus to Botrivier by vehicle, then begin cycling from Botrivier to Greyton. After leaving Hermanus, enjoy scenic views during the transfer to Botrivier. Once there, hop on your bikes and pedal through rolling hills and valleys, with our support vehicle ensuring a comfortable ride. Arriving in Greyton, settle into pre-arranged accommodation and explore the charming village before gearing up for the next part of your adventure.
Day 5 – Greyton
Get ready for a cycling adventure from Greyton to Bonnievale. Pedal through the picturesque Overberg countryside, enjoying scenic routes and a delightful lunch stop along the way. Arriving in Bonnievale, soak in the town’s warm hospitality and historic charm. Explore quiet streets and perhaps enjoy a wine tasting at a local estate. Settle into your accommodation for a relaxing evening in this hidden gem of the Overberg region.
Day 6 – Bonnievale
Departing from Bonnievale, embark on another day of cycling towards Swellendam, covering approximately 70-90km of mixed gravel and tar roads. Pedal through scenic countryside, passing rolling farmlands, rural communities, and picturesque valleys along the route. Enjoy the diverse landscape, from vineyards to mountains, with a lunch stop provided. Our support vehicle ensures a smooth journey. Upon reaching Swellendam, appreciate its historic architecture before settling into pre-arranged accommodation for a relaxing evening. Enjoy the ambiance of this charming town and reflect on another day of adventure in the Western Cape.
Day 7 – Cango Caves
Today is a well-deserved rest day as we leave Swellendam behind for an adventure tour at the famous Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn. Situated in the Swartberg Mountains, these caves are millions of years old and offer a mesmerizing experience. Explore the labyrinth of limestone chambers adorned with stunning formations illuminated by soft lighting. After the cave adventure, explore Oudtshoorn’s rich history and warm hospitality. Day 8 – Oudtshoorn

Day 9 – Knysna
Today, your cycling journey leads from George to the coastal town of Knysna along the Garden Route.
